Field Good Fridays
Grow skills. Build community. Restore ecosystems. Feel good.
Field Good Fridays is an inclusive, hands-on, environmental education project set on our 50 acre site of The Common Knowledge Centre in Kilfenora, Co. Clare.
We're creating a space where community wellbeing and environmental activism come together, offering a unique opportunity for learning different skills for ecosystem restoration and connection to nature.
This inclusive project welcomes everyone, no matter your background. It’s all about sharing knowledge, connecting with each other and with the land, and working together to protect and restore our natural world.
We hope that you will take what you’ve learned from our indoor and outdoor classrooms and become part of a positive ripple effect that spreads eco-friendly practices into your own communities.
“The project has been a very rewarding experience, learning, asking questions, sharing ideas & meeting lots of new people with different stories to share proving that no matter our background, we can all contribute to the welfare of our environment.”
A typical day at Field Good Fridays begins with a warm welcome, an informative morning session where you can sip a cup of tea and get to know the group.
Then, we head outdoors for hands-on activities like digging wildlife ponds, removing invasive plant species, planting trees, managing wildflower meadows or harvesting fresh organic vegetables for lunch.
Around 1pm, we’ll enjoy a wholesome lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches. In the afternoon, we might take a mindful walk across the land, observe and survey wildlife, or share a new skill with the group.
We always wrap up the day with a cup of tea and a sweet treat, while reflecting on what we’ve learned, and chat about how we can share this knowledge with our own communities.
“I learned that I have the power to make a positive difference in my own environment & by so doing inspire others to make a difference too.”
In our first year of the Field Good Fridays project we have held 30+ interactive and hands-on educational workshops, learning through connecting with the land.
Engaging with a diverse range of over 200 participants, from the local area and from much further afield.
The feedback data gathered from our evaluation forms showed:
100% of participants surveyed from Field Good Fridays have increased their capacity for taking climate action.
100% of participants surveyed from the project said they have increased their understanding of ecological restoration from the project.
93% of participants surveyed said they feel more connected to communities outside their own, since taking part in this project.
Come join us on Fridays, from 10am - 4pm, with lunch and tea served in between.
